Big Freeze 11 set to make a splash this King’s Birthday

Five AFL matches over five massive days on Seven and 7plus Sport

The King’s Birthday holiday will once again host one of the best days on the AFL calendar with 10 of Australia’s most iconic sporting legends set to take the plunge for Big Freeze 11, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.

For the past 10 seasons, the Big Freeze has been a crowd-favourite pre-match fixture at the Collingwood v Melbourne King’s Birthday blockbuster, with FightMND and AFL icon Neale Daniher sending a who’s who of the football, sport, and media worlds down the slide into Australia’s most famous ice bath.

With a special one-hour live broadcast on Seven and 7plus Sport, Australians can tune in to see their favourite stars embrace the Big Freeze tradition by dressing up and taking an icy plunge to raise funds for FightMND.

Announced on Sunrise yesterday, Australian Olympic 100-metre sprinter and current Sunrise co-host, Matt Shirvington was added to the star-studded list of sliders which includes:

  • Australian swimming star, Ariarne Titmus
  • Collingwood legend, Peter Daicos
  • Iconic Australian batsman, Mark Taylor
  • Australian actor and former rugby league player, Matt Nable
  • Australian Diamonds captain, Liz Watson

With four remaining sliders to be unveiled, football’s #1 commentary team will be on deck at the MCG on Big Freeze 11 day to take viewers behind the scenes as the stars line up for the icy plunge.

Seven’s team for the King’s Birthday match will be led by the incomparable Bruce McAvaney, Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Dale Thomas, Luke Hodge and Kate McCarthy, while Hamish McLachlan will host the Big Freeze 11 pre-match coverage.

Close friend of Neale Daniher and Essendon legend, Tim Watson also returns to the Big Freeze 11 coverage to continue the fight against a cause so close to his heart.

Before the teeth-chattering, bone-chilling action kicks off, footy fans can tune into tonight’s Big Freeze 11 themed evening on Seven and 7plus Sport, as Collingwood coach Craig McRae joins resident hosts Andy, Mick and Sam on The Front Bar, while FightMND Campaign Director, Bec Daniher, and 2025 slider Ariarne Titmus also stop by from 8.30pm AEST on Seven and 7plus Sport.

Then, on Unfiltered, Hamish McLachlan sits down with the man who has inspired the fight against Motor Neurone Disease, Neale Daniher, for a special FightMND themed episode at 9.30pm AEST – straight after The Front Bar on Seven and 7plus Sport.
